Spring Fashion

With the unseasonably warm temperatures we’ve felt in Omaha lately, looking forward to spring fashion at the beginning of January doesn’t seem so unrealistic.  We at BUNGALOW/8 have just been DYING over photos of all the Spring collections and while we’re still swaddling ourselves in wool, velvet, and fur, we can’t help but drool over what came down the runway this season.

As a lover of ultra-feminine looks, I am beyond delighted to see the figure-flattering peplum cut coming back in vogue. I can’t wait to pair the shape with a perfectly tailored pencil skirt and a pair of statement sunglasses, the best part of warm-weather dressing.

Chanel’s ready-to-wear collection for spring has been a favorite of ours here in the salon. Nothing like some stand-out futuristic looking Chelsea boots paired with impeccable suiting in luxurious pastels and stark whites and creams. In the salon, we’ve all been playing with color and pattern. Some of us have been mixing stripes and patterns, a trend I feel we’ll see for seasons to come. Others have been experimenting with monochromatic looks, something that’s easy to pull off and looks very chic on a budget.

In terms of hair, or, the best part of fashion, what we’re seeing on the runway is contributing to what we’re seeing on the streets more than it ever has. Ombre color and more lived-in, sexy texture are proving to have more staying power than I ever thought they would.  In many spring collections, deep side-parts are all the rage, a great way to adjust your look without losing all the length you’ve worked so hard for.  At Sonia Rykiel, deep side-parts were adorned with lovely minimal black barrettes, a great way to add interest and keep misbehaving hairs in place.

As in past seasons, we continue to see braids, waves, and towering top knots galore. While I am absolutely delighted by the continuing trend of legitimately STYLING one’s hair, it is important to continue to keep it in the best of shape by implementing a hair maintenance routine. We at BUNGALOW/8 Hairdressing are proud to announce our new relationship with Kerastase, a brilliant European treatment line focused on maintaining and restoring the fabric of the hair, making it possible to style and restyle day-in and day-out.  Healthy hair is always in style, and Kerastase’s rich masques, custom-blended, in-salon Fusio-dose treatments, and luxurious home hair care products are something we are so proud to be able to offer our clients from this day forward.

With frills, finery, and long-lush-luminous locks,

BUNGALOW/8 Hairdressing LOVES Omaha’s kids!

This Sunday, August 28, children in the Completely Kids Program (formerly Camp Fire USA Midlands Council) will be treated to back-to-school haircuts, lunch, school supplies, and more, compliments of BUNGALOW/8 Hairdressing, Omaha’s premier boutique salon. Eric Burden, owner and master stylist of BUNGALOW/8 said his salon is hosting this event to give back to the community. “The service that Completely Kids provides to children and families in our community is so important. These are kids who deserve a special day –someone to give them an experience they’ve never had before.” “Making a positive difference in our community is at the heart of BUNGALOW/8,” Burden mentions, “and helping children is always the most fun!”

At the event, every participating Completely Kids child will receive a haircut and style, Bumble and bumble shampoo, conditioner, and styling products, as well as school supplies, and lunch.  A $20 Target gift card was also generously provided by a Board Member for each child. “I am so moved by the generosity of BUNGALOW/8 and others making this event happen. The children and families we serve enjoy very little of the every day activities many people take for granted. When you’re trying to survive day-to-day, the last thing you get to do is prepare for back-to-school like other kids,” said Completely Kids Executive Director Penny Parker. “Thanks to everyone at BUNGALOW/8, these kids will go back to school with fresh looks and added confidence ready to learn.”

The event will be held at BUNGALOW/8 Hairdressing found at 1120 South 105th Street from 11 AM to 1 PM Sunday, 8/28/2011. While the Back-to-School Haircut Day is exclusively for Completely Kids children, the salon and Completely Kids welcomes visitors who want to donate monetarily or contribute items for the Backpack Food and Supplies Program. To learn more about this program and the organization in detail, visit: www.CompletelyKids.org or come by the salon on Sunday.

Completely Kids (formerly Camp Fire USA Midlands Council) serves more than 21,000 boys and girls in grades kindergarten through high school through out-of-school programs. The organization offers youth development programs that include life skills development, service learning, violence prevention, cultural awareness and health/wellness lessons; healthy meals; and academic support. Completely Kids works closely with public school personnel to more fully understand the youth served and to be a partner in academic success. The organization’s family programs include family nights and the access to community resources. The building at 2626 St. Mary’s Avenue is a hub resource for children and families in the neighborhood.

BUNGALOW/8 Hairdressing is steadfast in its commitment to create a culture of creativity, growth, and respect built on the foundation of inspiration, education, and teamwork. Believing that positive outlooks, motivated spirits, and supportive attitudes are the backbone to success, BUNGALOW/8 is pleased to participate in worthwhile projects that give to the community in ways that help instill these values in youth.
